Wat Thepthidarm was built by Rama III for his daughter, Princess Kroma Muen Apsomsudathep. It has beautiful floral and bird patterns on the gable end of the ordination hall and is the only temple in Thailand to house phiksunee (female monks). Fifty-two tin statues stand on a shelf in the ordination hall, under the presiding image. It is also the wat where the poet Sunthorn Phu was ordained and produced three of his most famous works.
